Phil Neville hears voices in his head

That didn’t take long, did it? Speaking ahead of the SheBelievesCup in the USA, newly appointed England Lionesses boss Phil Neville was in Columbus, ahead of their opener against France: “There are probably people out there that probably want me to lose all three games, and say ‘I told you so”.

Hmm, I wonder which former manager Phil Neville has been seeking advice from?

Ray Parlour has the answer

Ray Parlour has now waded into the Arsenal question. The three-time Premier League winner believes a former teammate is indeed the man to make Arsenal a formidable force once again. What is it about ex-players and their former teammates? Parlour’s boy is indeed French. Parlour’s boy is indeed a former Arsenal captain. Parlour’s boy was indeed a member of the ‘Invincibles’. No, it’s not Thierry Henry. It’s actually, Patrick Viera.

Parlour said: “Obviously then there’s Carlo Ancelotti, who has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world. But the one I would take a gamble on, and I think he’d be given time, is Patrick Vieira.
“He’s managed in New York. He knows the club very well and he knows the history of the club. I think he could attract big players and I think the fans would give him a chance as well.”

So there you have it. If given the choice, Ray Parlour would take Patrick Viera, who’s only managerial honour is the Under 23’s Premier League International Cup in 2015, with MANCHESTER CITY, over Carlo Ancelotti and his 3 Champions Leagues.

Thierry Henry was right, just because you played for the club doesn’t mean you should manage them. Ray Parlour has just proven, that just because you played for the club, doesn’t mean you should have an opinion on it.

Tottenham a selling club?

On the field – It is believed that FC Barcelona is monitoring Toby Alderweireld’s situation at Spurs. There is currently an impasse in negotiations for a contract extension, with a considerable difference in position on wages. The Belgian centre-half’s contract runs out in 2020 but has a clause that will allow him to leave for £25m in summer 2019 if no new deal is agreed.

Off the field – According to the minutes of a recent meeting between senior Spurs officials and members of the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust, “Daniel Levy explained that the stadium financing was not conditional on selling naming rights. Spurs are in discussions but they will only contract when they are satisfied with the price, the tenure and the counterparty.”

If no agreement is reached, however, the 62,000-seat arena will not be known as White Hart Lane.

“Until such a time that a partner is found, the stadium will be referred to as Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,” read the minutes.

Fear, not Spurs fans. If you’re worried about the journey that Daniel Levy is embarking the club on, just peak across to neighbours Arsenal. At least you’ll have a lovely new stadium, players with potential (to be fulfilled elsewhere) and Champions League football for about ten years, before suddenly dropping off the footballing map.

Neymar Injured

The World’s most expensive player Neymar faces “at least six weeks” out with a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle. Neymar suffered the injury in PSG’s 3-0 win over Marseille on Sunday and will be unavailable for PSG’s return game against Real Madrid, which ‘Les Parisiens’  trail 3-1 from the first leg.

If you remember, Neymar wasn’t best pleased about that scoreline and he did nothing to endear himself to the PSG fans any further: “We always say the same things, we always do the same things, and in the end, we are always floored in the same way.
“It’s all well and good putting eight goals past Dijon, but it’s in matches like this that you have to stand up and be counted.
“It is very frustrating we let the match slip out of our hands in the end.”

Chin up mate, you’re 14 points clear atop of Ligue 1. Chances are, there will be a nice shiny L’Hexagoal waiting for you at the end of the season.
