The phrase may be traced back to St. Pius X National School in 1960s Dublin. It was a command to get up the yard, the school yard. Older pupils appointed as wardens would shout at children to go away from the road and...
Get up the yard!
Now it can be heard throughout Dublin as a dismissive comment along the lines of "go away out of that" or "away with ya".
The origins of "go and shite" ,"ask me bollocks" & "i will in me hoop" still remain a mystery.
